Hi Barnaby,
I did not get a response to my issue request, so I'll repost here:
We're trying to do an update from 1.6.6 to 3.5.1 or 3.6.2.I wanted to test it with a local backup of the site with xampp. At 90% the migration stops and I get the following error in a popup:
Error response:
Fatal error: Call to undefined method JDatabaseMySQLi::quoteName() in C:\xampp\htdocs\cms\mmp_upgrade\administrator\components\com_admin\script.php on line 64
Is this related to the sandbox environment, or is there something wrong with our installation?
Regards,
Tobias
Hi there Chris
Thank you for getting in touch.
Yes, MigrateMe Plus supports K2.
The way forward is to install MigrateMe Plus, and run the full migration. Then, install the latest Joomla 3 compatible version of K2 on the new Joomla 3 system.
All the best, Barnaby Dixon
Hi Eric,
I received your email and sent a rather long reply. This bounced from your email server. I didn't attach anything, so I'm not sure why it bounced.
Do you have an alternative email address I could reply to you at?
Sorry... we seem to be having communication troubles!
Barnaby
Hi there
The issue here is that the database is too large to import to your server - so the upload is timing out before it sends a response back to MigrateMe.
The way forward is to rename your database to insert.sql.gz and then upload it with FTP to /administrator/components/com_migrateme/insert.sql.gz
Then if you reopen MigrateMe it should allow you to continue the migration.
All the best, Barnaby Dixon
Hi there Risha,
You would get this message if the database contains tables from a non-Joomla 1.5 system. For example, if you have tables in the data set that relate to Joomla 2.5 you would get this message.
Could you send me a login to the Joomla 1.5 and the Joomla 3 systems and I will see what is happening for you?
Thanks & all the best - Barnaby Dixon
Hi again,
Thank you for the login and data. I have found the problem. The menu table is not in fact included in the original data set. The original data seems to stop at the table jos_js_res_hits
I would suspect this is a table containing stats or logs, and contains a huge number of rows. During data export this can create memory issues and prevent the rest of the database from being exported properly.
So the way forward is to re-export your data and include all the Jos tables except this one. You can do this with phpmyadmin,or if you like I can do this for you.
I hope that helps. All the best, Barnaby Dixon
Good morning Alex,
I sent you an email last night within 10 minutes of receiving your email.
Perhaps you did not receive my email? The issue is likely that your original menu data is not standard Joomla 1.5, but I offered to take a look for you to see what is happening.
Here's what I wrote...
Good evening Alex,
Thank you for your email.
Please send me a login and the data for migration, and I will check out what is happening for you
Thanks & all the best,
Barnaby Dixon
Hello Migrateme doesn't work on my new Joomla 3.6 web site; it doesn't visualize all DB tables and load the Joomla menu tables in a essoneus way.
I have sent an email and a Paypal refund request but you didn't answer after 10hrs.
Can you refund me? Please answer me as soon as possible.
Best regards

Hi again,
Yes I used the email address you gave. I would suggest your email inbox may be full. It would be worth trying to send an email to yourself from a different account like Gmail to see if it arrives. I also answered your question on PayPal,did you get an email from PayPal to confirm?
The good news is I am getting your emails,so if you could email me, supportphp-web-design.com with the details I should receive it. I will post here to confirm if your email arrived. I will need the Joomla 3 login and data for migration.
Thank you,
Barnaby Dixon
Hi Barnaby,
Looking to do several Joomla 1.5 to 3.7 migrations, the one that is concerning me most vas a virtumart installation. Will MigrateMe migrate the virtumart install.
I think it will, but can you confirm that I setup a clean J3 environment, restore the J1.5 backup, and then install the latest virtumart into J3??
Regards
Tony
Hi again Tony,
The move from Virtuemart 1 to 2 is a migration, but it should work fine with the method I described earlier.
MigrateMe will migrate your data yes, just run the migration as normal on Joomla 3, and then install VM 3, and go to Virtemart > Tools > Migration and click Start Migration to complete the process
I hope that helps - all the best, Barnaby Dixon
Thank you for your reply, one issue that I didn't know at the time is that the version of Virtumart currently in use is 1.1.9. from what I have been reading it is not possible to go directly to VirtuMart 2 or 3. (https://docs.virtuemart.net/tutorials/installation-migration-upgrade/77-upgrading-vm1-to-vm2.html)
Can you confirm that MigrateMe would work (I1.5.26 with Virtumart 1.1.9 to J3.7 VM 3.???). Obviously I'll be testing the migration elsewhere before the live site gets migrated.
Hi Tony
Thank you for your message. With Virtuemart, it's reasonably easy. The way forward is:
- Install Joomla 3 (with no demo data or other third party extensions)
- Install MigrateMe on Joomla 3
- Migrate your full system as normal, including all virtuemart data
- When migration is complete, install Virtuemart 3
- Open Virtuemart, and then open Tools > Migration and click Start Migration to complete the migration process
- Finally copy over your original images folder to the new system
All the best, Barnaby Dixon
Hi!
Yesterday I filled the form but haven't received an answer nor see my post in this page.
We are interested mainly in upgrading the visuals and functionality for the buyer in our VirtueMart store on the website, and would like your professional opinion.
Do you SINCERELY think it is better to upgrade the whole Joomla (from 2.4.8 to 3.x), or will it suffice if just implement a professional Virtuemart template?
Thanks and waiting anxiously for an answer!
Andres
Hi there Andres,
Thank you for your message. Joomla 2.5 is no longer updated, so any security bugs that are discovered will not be patched. I would suggest to immediately upgrade to Joomla 2.5.28, which is the latest version of 2.5 available, and patches many security bugs.
After this, if you decide not to upgrade further to Joomla 3, I would advise having a full backup of files and data stored offline, so that IF you are hacked, you can easily revert to the backup. But yes, I would advise very seriously looking into upgrading to Joomla 3, since it is now stable and actively updated for security and functionality.
All the best, Barnaby Dixon
Hi Barnaby,
I just wanted to drop a note and thank you again for your services in restoring our site after a catastrophic failure.
After I had spent many hours trying to resolve the problems, I decided it was time to call in the "Big Guns" and you were the obvious first choice.
Thank you for all of your help and considerable expertise!
Hi there, thank you for your message.
1 - you are free to use MigrateMe on as many sites as you have. The license is per user, not per system.
2 - You would need MigrateMe Plus to migrate Joomla 2.5 to the latest version ... and yes it would fix this issue.
3 - Yes I always provide full support as needed
4 - You can contact me directly via the Contact form (or even reply direct to this email address) if needed.
All the best - Barnaby Dixon
Hi,
Could you please confirm below.
1. Is this extension is only for one time installation and migrate site?
2. Is this work for our joomla version 2.5.8, as we are getting below error while update.
Warning: Database is not up to date!
Database schema version (2.5.9) does not match CMS version (2.5.8).
3. Will you provide full support till we complete full migration with menus, articles, content and latest plugins and extensions.
4. Whom can i contact directly while migration after we buy this extension.
Regards,
Inayath
Hi there Ricardo
The issue is likely to be either:
- Your /stageit/configuration.php has the live_site variable set to the live site (usually you can leave this variable blank)
- Your /stageit/.htaccess configuration is redirecting you to the live site (if you have RewriteBase / in the file, change this to RewriteBase /stageit/ )
- Your /stageit/ cache is pointing to the old site. If you clear the stageit cache (and any third party caches such as with a Gantry Template) it should correct this
I hope that helps! All the best, Barnaby
Hi Barnaby,
we would need to migrate a 1.5 site based on an old Enmasse component with lot of customization done there. So we do not expect that any newer version of that component could be used, but we would need to upgrade the component itself to be compatible with Joomla 3.X. Could we get a support from you if there are problems with the migration?
Best regards,
Igor
I sent an email about purchasing your Search and Replace Joomla extension. I purchased it on a corp card which doesn't match my name and email (belonged to my boss).
I missed the download link for the extension. Can you please provide. I sent you the receipt info in the contact email already.
Thanks,
Tim
Hello, I sent you a message several days ago asking for help and have got no reply. I'm trying to get Netsukii working on my Joomla installation using the Helix3 framework which may modify the core joomla article files (there are additional blogging options). I'm not sure if this is the problem, but I can't import any articles. There is no error given, just no article is produced.
I purchased the extension last weekend under my boss' name and credit card (DaSilva)
Good morning,
The -2 appended to aliases is to avoid duplicates. Aliases must always be unique in Joomla 3. You can remove them via PHPMyAdmin but this will mean the assets table gets corrupted - so I'd recommend not. Instead, delete any duplicates from your menu table, and ensure any aliases in the menu table are unique...
Regards, Barnaby Dixon
Hi there Barnaby.
One question if you have a large site with a lot of files and db and you want to remove one backup it take ages.
ie
"Your backup is being removed.
Please wait while your backup is deleted.
Removing your backup: ../ "
Can you not make this delete process much faster?
As now its terrible slow and almost impossible to use..
thks

Hi Barnaby,
I purchased via Paypal yesterday the Migrate me 4 silver level.
When I enter my email in the download box this is message:
You do not have any available downloads. Please check your email address.
I haven't received an email, please advise correct procedure or if you have received the payment. Our Paypal shows the payment was processed.
Many thanks!
Sandra
Hi Jim,
Tim Davis here helping with support. I haven't received any info from you yet, but will certainly be happy to help you with the issue you are dealing with!
Would you resend your info to supportphp-web-design.com and I will look right at it!
Maybe even reply here when you have done that so I can make sure things are flowing as they should.
Tim
Hi Victor,
I would be very happy to help and look at this for you. Please email me and give me more details of what is happening, and if you send me the super user login for your live site (so I can log into both your live site and MM4 site) I will have a look too.

Hi Victor,
Tim Davis here helping with support. I suspect that error is telling you your template is not J4 compatible. Do you have a T3 framework template or extensions installed?
I would be happy to log into your site and have a look if you email me the super user info for your J3 site. supportphp-web-design.com
Hi there. Have an old site working fine on J2.5 and php 7.4.
ISP upgraded to php 8 and not allowing to go back to 7.4
Ever since then the site is not accessible front end and back end. I need help to upgrade the joomla version - willing to pay a liminal fee.
Please assist urgently. I have used migrate me + previously - not sure on which site though....... Thanks
Hi Carl. It was great meeting you, looking into this issue and talking Joomla! For anyone else reading this comment and wondering about the cause, it turned out that Akeeba Admintools was running on the live site and preventing access to the staging area folder that MM4 had made. Temporarily removing Admintools while the migration process and work is begin done is a good solution.
Hi Barnaby
I wrote two times already and got no response. I have problems to go live on an Apache server. Neither the old nor the new site worked afterwards. Only with effort we could restore to a previous state with both versions. But, the initial backup is not there anymore. Now, I am afraid to try it again.
Meanwhile, I created a backup of the new site and restored it on another server. I changed htaccess and configuration.php, but unfortunately, some components do not work now anymore. I need help urgently... please.
Best
Antje
Hi Geoffrey,
I just looked and I don't have email from you in my inbox. Did you send it to supportphp-web-design.com?
Please try again sending you email to that address again, and perhaps send a copy to my timcybersalt.com address just in case something odd is happening.
God bless,
Tim
Hi Musa,
We were experiencing some issues with our contact form and messages were not being delivered. It is fixed now, but your message was probably from before the fix and we did not get it.
This error makes me suspect that something about your Joomla 3 database is not right and installing MM4 has brought this to light.
I would be very happy to log into your site and take a look if you email me super user access to your admin area and also the login for your web hosting account as I may have to look at your database as well - supportphp-web-design.com
I feel very confident I can get this fixed for you so you can proceed with your migration!
God bless,
Tim
Hi Roberto,
I've seen this one before and it happens at the 80% point in the MM4 process. The php-zip module for the version of PHP that you are using is not activated.
If you do not have access to change the server settings you need to ask your host to turn on the "phpXX-php.zip" (where XX is the PHP version - ie 74, 80, 81 etc)
Now having said that, I'm no server genius so keep me posted on this so I can add whatever the solution is to my repertoire of help solutions - but I think you will find this is the cause and the cure. And if you are still stuck after let me know (supportphp-web-design.com) and I'll try to help.
God bless,
Tim
Hi Peter,
Tim Davis here, helping with support.
I haven't received any email from you, please try again at supportphp-web-design.com so I can make sure I can help with your specific situation by email.
That said, here are some general things to try as the CURL issue involves a setting on your hosting account:
Reasons it might not work:
- Curl is turned off (turn it on in PHP)
- The server's internet is slow, so it can't get the full Joomla 3 package
- The server doesn't have enough space to save the package
- PHP web design server is down, this is where it gets the package
- Alternatively, Joomla downloads server is down, where it can also get the package
Ways to fix:
- Turn on Curl if it's turned off
- If it still doesn't work, go to downloads.joomla.org and download the latest full package. Then rename to joomla.zip and upload to your server at /mmp_upgrade/joomla.zip
- Then run MigrateMe 4, and it'll recognise the locally saved version of Joomla and use that instead of trying Curl.
Hello
I have sent a comment on the email form but got no response, maybe this is the right place
I'm struggling while porting my joomly 3 site to joomla 4.
I'm using megrateme4. Migration seems to work ok, I also updated my 3rd party components.
I get errors on the frontend, maybe related to the template. Can you help me how to begin the search ?
kind regards
Jacques
